New Delhi, 08 December 2019: The president of All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and the Member of Parliament Maulana Badruddin Ajmal has sent letters to all the opposition leaders seeking their support to oppose the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) in both the houses of Indian Parliament.

Maulana Ajmal had telephonic conversation too with the leaders of different political parties and will continue it garnering mass support in order to oppose the bill collectively.

In his letter Maulana Ajmal has also requested all the leaders to join AIUDF’s protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on 9th of December 2019.

Highlighting the serious issues and pointing out the big loopholes in the bill, Maulana Ajmal wrote in his letter that the proposed CAB differentiates among foreigners on the basis of religion, whereas our constitution does not allow discrimination on religious ground. It is feared that this bill will infuse religious hatred in the country.

“If this bill is passed, it will bring irreparable damage to the harmony and security of the country. When the citizenship will be given to those who do not have any document, then it is almost evident that the anti national elements finding shelter in the country will carry out anti national activities. They may take high position and pass on the confidential information of the country to the enemy, which may result into a great loss,” he said.

Expressing his views about the defect of the bill, Maulana Ajmal stated, “We have always been demanding that every illegal migrant must be deputed irrespective of religion, but this bill is absolutely contrary to it. According to this controversial bill, if the illegal migrant is a Muslim, he will be declared illegal migrant and if he happens to be other than Muslims then he will be warmly welcomed, it is absolutely against the spirit of our constitution which does not allow such discrimination by any means.”

He further said, “The government always raises the issue of overpopulation and lack of means—why, then, the government is ready to bring extra burden from other countries giving the foreigners citizenship? Will   it not cause the increase of growing unemployment? For these reasons, I appeal all the political parties to strongly oppose this bill in the Parliament and do not let it be passed; otherwise, it will be hazardous for sovereignty of the country”.
