Darul Uloom Deoband's Working VC and President of Jamiat Ulama-e Hind (M) Qari Usman Mansoorpuri Passes Away

In this horrific period of COVID-19, India is getting shock after shock. Prominent scholars and acclaimed educationists are passing away one by one. Aligarh Muslim University lost more than 20 working and retired professors in a short span of time during this Corona pandemic period. So is the case with famous Darul Uloom Deoband and Nadwatul Ulama Lucknow, the duo too lost some of their very promising professors and senior scholars in this sorrowful hours.
 
The famous and one of the premier seats of Islamic learning in the world - Darul Uloom Deoband has lost one more of her great son and a long time professor of Hadith (Mohaddith). Amirul Hind, Working Mohtamim (VC) of Darul Uloom Deoband and President of Jamiat Ulama-e Hind (M) Maulana Qari Syed Usman Mansoorpuri died on Friday, 21 May 2021, at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon, Delhi NCR, at around 1.30 pm due to illness owing to Covid-19, at the age of 76. 
 
This information was shared through a WhatsApp message by his two surviving sons - Mufti Syed Mohammad Salman Mansoorpuri and Mufti Syed Mohammad Affan Mansoorpuri. The death of Qari Mohammad Usman Mansoorpuri has not only caused huge vacuum in Darul Uloom Deoband and Jamiat Ulama-e Hind but also caused a huge loss to the entire Muslim community in India, and there is an atmosphere of mourning all around. His demise has left millions of his students and loved ones in India and the world in shock and sadden. The mortal body of Qari Usman Mansoorpuri was brought to Deoband from Delhi and his funeral rites were done in Deoband's Mazar-e Qasmi late in the evening on Friday. 
 
 
 
The Mohatmim (VC) of Darul Uloom Deoband Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani, the President of Jamiat Ulama-e Hind (A) Maulana Syed Arshad Madani, President of All India Muslim Personal Law Board Maulana Syed Rabe Hasani Nadwi, General Secretary of Jamiat Ulama-e Hind (M) Maulana Syed Mahmood Madani, President of All India United Democratic Front and Dhubri MP Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, intellectuals, scholars and social and religious figures from across India and the world have expressed deep sorrow and offered condolences to the grief-stricken family.
 
Qari Syed Usman Mansoorpuri was a very sweet and pleasing personality with extremely high moral character - both in his administrative and academic life. His sympathetic nature and soft-spoken, caring and loving personality has been an outstanding example for all who know or learnt from him. Born on August 12, 1944 in Mansoorpur village of Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh. He has been a teacher and a professor for nearly 40 years in Darul Uloom Deoband and served at various administrative posts as Head of All India Rabta-e Madaris, Head of Office of the Khatm-e Nabowwat, Dean, Assistant VC and he died as working VC of the great institution. 
 
Qari Syed Mohammad Usman Mansoorpuri was son in law of Shaikhul Islam Maulana Syed Hussain Ahmad Madani. In 2008, he was elected as President of faction of Jamiat Ulama-e Hind, known as Mahmood (M) faction and the other one has been presided over by Maulana Syed Arshad Madani, known as Arshad (A) faction. Since then, he has also been appointed as Amirul Hind by the Jamiat (M), and for the last 13 consecutive years, he has been shouldering his responsibilities with quality and integrity.
 
India lost a great scholar, a pious human soul and a loving teacher in Qari Syed Mohammad Usman Mansoorpuri. May Allah bless him and place him in the best of His Paradises.
