At the YMCA ground in Mumbai, a three-day conference was organized by a Mumbai based Islamic organization ‘Ahl-e Sunnat wal Jamaat’. Many Islamic scholars participated in the program. The conference was titled ‘Tahaffuz-e-Sunnat wal Azmat-e-Sahaba Conference.’ It was aimed at strengthening the beliefs of Muslims, to impress upon people the calibre of sahaba and to create an awareness about sunnah.
Mufti Mahmood Bagdoli the professor of Hadith in Madarsa Talimul Quran, Dhabel, Gujerat, said while addressing the large gathering: ‘It is necessary for Muslims to follow the ways of prophet (saws) and consider his companions as rightly guided people and to respect them. He added: “Some people oppose Taqleed or following the four Imams, and in fact, this is a conspiracy to make common Muslims turn away from Ulama which is a path of deviance.” He emphasized: “Islam came with respect and will remain in our life as long as we respect it.”
The first session of the conference was initiated with the recitation of the holy Quran followed by Naat. A number of notable ulama delivered speeches.
Maulana Usama Kanpuri talked about the guiding light of prophethood in detail. He said in his speech: “The Shariah of prophet (saws) will remain intact till the Day of Judgment for good. And whenever people opposed it, Ulama of the time always rejected them and struggled against them. He added: ‘Unfortunately, there are people who try to misguide simple-minded Muslims with lukewarm support of the Quran and ahadith, and so, it is our responsibility to fight against them to strengthen the faith of Muslims.”
The most prominent speaker of the program was honorable Shaikhul Hadith of Darul Uloom Deoband, Mufti Saeed Ahmed Saheb Palanpuri. He said in his address: “In Islamic Shariah, the holy Quran, Sunnah of the prophet Muhammad (saws) and Ijma (Consensus of Ulama) are the roots of Islamic Shariah. And the Muslim community is practicing from the very first on them and whatever is inferred from these principles.”
He added: “There are some instructions of the Quran and ahadith which were meant only for the prophet (saws) and some instructions were abrogated, and so they are not actionable for the entire Ummah.” He continued: “Taqleed is very important and in some matters it becomes unavoidable.”
Maluna Mahmood Daryabadi read out a resolution, adopted by the conference, against the abuse of Prophet Muhammad (saws) by Kamlesh Tiwari.
The program was presided over by Maulana Zainuddin Qasmi, the chief of Ahl-e Sunnat wal Jamat and anchored by Maulana Zakir Qasmi, Mufti Huzaifa Qasmi and Mufti Sayedurrahman Qasmi. Among the prominent participants were Maulana Abdul Ali Farooqi, Mufti Azeezurrahman Fatehpuri, Maulana Abdurrashid Nadwi, Qari Sadiq Khan, Hafiz Azeemuddin Siddiqi, Maulana Burhanuddin Qasmi, Maulana Atiqurrahman Qasmi, Muhammad Aslam Javed Qasmi etc. The conference ended with the dua of Mufti Sayeed Ahmad Palanpur (db).
