Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP) had launched a fundraising campaign on its Crowdfunding platform IndiaZakat.com to provide relief assistance for the earthquake affected victims in Turkey last week. Within a 48 hours, their Members spread all over the Country, responded and collected Rs. 25 lakhs. This amount was handed over to the Turkish Consulate in Hyderabad by depositing in their Earthquake Relief account as per their appeal for funds instead of Relief goods as they had a glut of these items and no place to store.

Their Gujarat team will be however, sending 5000 Blankets to Turkey & Syrian Embassies in Delhi for the earthquake victims.
Aamir Edresy – AMP President and the force behind this campaign said, “The Magic of Collectivism & Collaboration has resulted in this milestone. If few people together could achieve all this in just a few hours, imagine what we can do in our lifetime with our resources for the beleaguered Ummah!”

M. A. Sayeed, AMP State Head - Telengana, who met the Consul General of Turkish Consulate at Hyderabad said "It gave us immense pleasure to meet the Consul General and express our solidarity in their hour of grief. The gesture of helping them with the funds touched a raw nerve and they thanked AMP and it's members immensely."

The AMP Hyderabad Chapter Head, Syed Amer, who went along with the team to the Hyderabad Turkish Consulate said that although many organisations had donated a lot of relief goods, AMP was among the first to have given monetary assistance as per the needs of Turkish Government's relief efforts.

AMP will now be working on collecting & donating a similar amount to the Syrian victims either through some authorised local organisations working on ground in Syria or through the Syrian Embassy in Delhi.

The terrible earthquakes that affected Turkey and Syria shook the entire human community. The event has been very tragic, sad and painful, in which thousands of young as well as old people, children, men and women were buried in the ground in moments. Skyscrapers, beautiful and magnificent buildings fell to the ground in the blink of an eye. Seeing the loss of lives and the horrific destruction of men, women and children in Turkey and Syria, the entire AMP team decided to stand shoulder to shoulder with the affected victims.

The members of the general public are also requested to come forth and make whatever contributions possible on the link below for the Turkish earthquake victims;
