Qur'anic Dua - 01 (English)

اهدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ المُستَقِيمَ ۔ صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنعَمتَ عَلَيهِمْ غَيرِ المَغضُوبِ عَلَيهِمْ وَلاَ الضَّالِّينَ ۔

Translation:

(O, Allah) Show us the straightway, the way of those upon whom You bestowed Your favour, not the way of those who evoked Your wrath or of those who are astray.

Explanation:

This supplication is mentioned in Surah Al-Fatiha of the Qur’an from ayah No. 6 to 7. It is very concise Dua. In this Dua, Allah’s Hidayat and guidance towards’ the straight path is sought from Allah Almighty. Straight path is the moderate way in each sphere of life and the way which is free from extremism, excess, or paucity, going to the extremes in ideas or behavior.

Hidyah means to guide someone to the destination with kindness. Hidayah in true meaning is only Allah’s act.
