Qur'anic Dua - 14 (English)

وَسِعَ رَبُّنَا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عِلْمًا عَلَى اللّهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا رَبَّنَا افْتَحْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ قَوْمِنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الْفَاتِحِينَ

Translation:

“Our Lord has encompassed all things in knowledge. Upon Allah we have relied. Our Lord, decide between us and our people in truth, and You are the best of those who give decision."

Explanation:

This dua is mentioned in Surah Aaraf, Ayah No. 89. This is the supplication of Prophet Shuyeb (as). The ommunity of Madyan the people of Prophet Shuyeb (as) were the tradesmen who are cheating the customers in weight and measurement and they were robbing the wayfarers to increase their wealth. Prophet Shuyeb (as) invited them to come to the right path leaving sinful acts.

Some people obeyed him while many of them who still were involved in the crime, they started threatening Prophet Shuyeb to exile him and his followers from the area unless he leaves the preaching of the right religion and follows their ways. Prophet Shuyeb (as) replied that he would be disobeying Allah if he followed them and did this dua at that time, eventually Allah (swt) destroyed these arrogant oppressors through the punishment of earthquake.

We can read this dua in difficult situation to save ourselves from the oppressors.
